I thought it was all rather doubtful that McLaren would be able to snatch the F1 title away on the Fuel ruling anyway. F1 rulings have always been more for the interest of the sport than actually following rules. McLaren probably did it as revenge on Ferrari. LeMonde report [FR]
Norway constructs a Doomsday vault [BBC] to store 4.5 million species of crop seeds, in case somebody nukes the world’s cropfields and exterminate all our food. hm. Is this really useful? What will the 1000-yrs-into-the-future aliens think about our crazy seed vault? Will they scan it like what we do to King Tut’s tomb? sheesh. We’re still building skyscrapers (like pyramids), and vaults (like tombs).
DeCode Genetics [BBC] offers online DNA analysis, likelihood of certain diseases and all that. So has it started? The eugenics, genetics whatever all that stuff. Perhaps not while people are still insufficiently concerned, and technology not that advanced. And most people don’t really understand the implications. Medical services are still such a see-symptom-treat-symptom kinda thing. Pathetic. How do human beings survive in such backwater technology where doctors prescribe drugs to stop indicatory symptoms instead of clearing viruses, where surgeons cut open bodies and insert knives and dig around looking for something, where infants are still born with ridiculous diseases, where millions of dollars are spent trying to save individuals with no hope of a useful life. (useful to themselves and society) In this day and age people can worry about nightclubs and christmas trees.
