i think the hardest thing to pack would be the innards of the computer. it’s taken me days to troubleshoot networking because of some conflicts with port 22 and faulty files. im so glad to have my SSH back, it’s so lovely compared to FTP. whoopee. no more lousy FTP. although i am still puzzled by the low responsiveness. heck for now.
meanwhile i got my hamachi running again. it’s amazing how effortlessly it VPNs. at least it’s a reliable Remote Desktop option.
and after all that is set up to run automatically i can finally do Restore Disk backups. it’s all very troublesome because no one else at home can understand anything to do with computers. and it’s not going to be possible to get someone to come and fix it coz i configured everything from scratch myself and the installation disks are probably everywhere, not to mention that it’s also alot of open source software with no disks. so i tried Acronis True Image Home and Norton Ghost and no matter what it’s sucky to backup to DVDs, well better than nothing. Norton Ghost can do a LightsOut thingy, where you can boot from bios to restore the image. that’s very useful. so im depending on the Ghost for now. backing up to hard disks is so much faster, but if only i have more hard disks.

you going to transfer your files back home and do weird stuff over the net? or are you just preparing for a format of your laptop…
