roquette

took a little walk after school (coz it was 7pm but the sky was so bright and blue), walked from Gare de Lyon to Bastille, whereupon I saw that Rue de la Roquette was crowded and happening. nice. there are lots of restos and some bars. lots of foreign/international food, decently crowded too, for [...]

Seule Paris est digne de Rome

“Seule Paris est digne de Rome; seule Rome est digne de Paris”
Paris and Rome are Sister Cities. Something to do with fostering contact and cultural links. I never knew it was an official thing. Anyway I was wiki-surfing, and read a whole bunch of stuff about Paris, crap there’s so much I don’t know.
Anyway I [...]

Taken together with the Paris Métro stations Châtelet and Les Halles, to which it is directly connected, it is the world’s largest underground station and subway station. The station hosts 750,000 travellers per day, counting 493,000 for the RER only[1].

figuring figures

ticking figures, there

it pretends not to move, it waits
but i know, it moves ever so often
else how could it have passed 3am
and now it is 3.22
this is such a joke
why do figures always move
like the slippery numbers on the bills
and the budget sheet
always short, always short
but, i said, it was only a [...]

la casse-tête chinois

hell that title really caught my attention. now how to translate it..hm dum dum.. = “puzzle” or “brainteaser”. the chinese puzzle. [it came from a DirectSoir article. french free newspaper]

i suppose you (do you?) know that during the lighting ceremony of the Olympic Flame, there were 3 journalists from Reporters Without Borders who unfurled a [...]

bonne journée

it’s just such a nice feeling to be able to say “merci, au revoir” to immigration officers and shopkeepers. i mean, after all those ‘grumpy’ looking people in poland. well the not-grumpy ones are the english speakers who are catered to tourists.
on my RER B back from CDG to Paris, yet again i did not [...]

krakow

I guess the most significant part of krakow would be auschwitz, so let’s start with that.
Auschwitz, the Nazi genocide of the Jews and Poles and other prisoners. it’s unbelievable to stand there on the same spot, imagining what happened, imagining 1 million people, imagining the terrible conditions. The sheer bitterness of the propaganda, lies so [...]

le Terrible

why do i stay so far away from Trocadero. went there today to borrow a krakow travel guide. unfortunately i reached there at 12 and the library was only open from 13h today. so i was throw out on the streets for 1hr.
