it pretends not to move, it waits
but i know, it moves ever so often
else how could it have passed 3am
and now it is 3.22
this is such a joke

why do figures always move
like the slippery numbers on the bills
and the budget sheet
always short, always short
but, i said, it was only a train
or a plane, or a day
but unhappy buts

where do old numbers go when they die?
