flambé

It continues! The burning of the flame. as in, ppl burning the flame. nvm

the protests continue in San Francisco.

interestingly:

Richard Gere, a prominent Tibetan Buddhist who has been a consistent advocate of human rights in Tibet.

Gere belongs to the International Campaign for Tibet, one of several organizations that took part in Tuesday’s protests.

but anyway what’s cool is that the parisien/french newspapers are still digging up things to say, apparently one evening wasn’t enough for them to find the treasure.

today’s Le Figaro article: “Qui sont les «robots» du comité olympique chinois ? ” asks who are these robots from the chinese olympic committee.

now what’s all that about? it’s so funny. they are not pleased with the thug-like behaviour and responses of the chinese security personnel, those silly-looking people dressed in light blue/white with ugly shades and baseball cap. the extremely ugly shades tell you immediately that these people come from Middle Kingdom. coz who would wear such shades with sports attire? come on there are tons of prettier sports shades out there. so out of place in paris. Figaro also asks, who is so reckless as to risk a clash with David Douillet, this olympic judo champion. amusing. they grabbed the torch from his hand, extinguished it and brought it back up the bus. it’s really really really funny if you watch the videos. Normally it’s like 20 people running in a pack, and then suddenly there’s some commotion, and then they start running back to the bus. Then the police will be like wondering what’s going on. I think they must be cursing. So these Special Police are actually under the Ministry of Public Security. Wow they have such a ministry. Anyway they are expressly unwelcome and interdicted from assisting in guarding the flame by the remaining countries.

the French police are also unhappy with the special chinese police’s overviolent and inexperienced reactions to demonstrators. They were mentioned that the Chinese seemed to be surprised or worried that there would be demonstrations. It’s like a fact of life here. Non stop street action.

anyhow here are some pictures of nice shops i saw today

come to think of it, the photo gives a very insufficient feel of the place. it’s like a place full of books, so so so full of books. it has books on the shelves, books standing on the shelves, books stuffed into the shelves, books on the table, books in every conceivable or visible cupboard, books on racks, books on piles, books upstairs downstairs, walls that look like they are falling apart, old books that are not for sale. what a mess. in a way it’s a book lover’s paradise. in a way you can find a book that you never knew, in another way you can never find a book that you want to find. but underlying all this façade, is there anything concrete?
