les grèves.
i was at trocadero, and i saw a statue of benjamin franklin, which reminded me of this statue of my ‘friend’ Dante Aligheri. this one was in barcelona. but yeah, Dante.
and then today i went to the library (faculty lib, bio) and found that it was closed. curses and curses. Translation of the sign (bottom): Thursday 15/05/2008, CLOSURE of the library. Strike of Public Services.
oh right, i mean, what lah. curses. then i saw this piece of news on Figaro.
L’appel à la journée de mobilisation du 15 mai, initié par les lycéens et les enseignants, a été relayé dans de nombreux secteurs, notamment dans la Fonction publique. Le point sur les perturbations attendues.
and so tons of education-related stuff is on strike, i guess. well i had my tutorial as usual. it’s crazy, millions of public servants in i-dunno-what organisations, including La Poste, France Telecom, Météo France(?).
a pity it had to bother me. and im not free to go and join them in the streets.
thursday seems to be a popular day for strikes. there are also strikes prevus, er planned, for next thursday, by Air France and someone related to them. bah.
bah. hey you people just had came back from an ultra-long holiday weekend. i’ve never seen an entire top-tier city go on self-declared holiday at the same time. i guess when you have 5 weeks of paid leave a year, you gotta use it somehow, and you probably will faire le pont whenever possible.
other than that, the ANOUS-Paris weekly has listed some night events at various museums this saturday. free too. grah if only i could go. something’s happening at versailles as well. and then the municipal theatres are advertising €10 youth tickets.
and apparently last weekend, when it was ultra hot, people were out in beachwear dipping their feet into the water at Trocadero. what? there? then again, people also dip their feet into the water at the Louvre pyramids.
