well you know that little icon that appears when you bookmark a webpage, i finally found out it’s called favicon. and i’ve got one too. it turns out to be really simple to do. you can just grab any picture, and use an online resizer which will reduce it to 16×16 and rename the file properly. and then, for wordpress, just upload it into the theme folder and main folder and it will auto show up on most modern browsers. there are other ways of applying it for other installations and more complicated steps to be compatible with old browsers, but who cares. you’re using firefox 3 already right? so that’s it. always wanted to get one. it just looks more pro, haha. [if you don't see it, it's probably due to cache and stuff like that. else it's coz it's IE ] favicon = favourites icon.

in other news, it’s going to be June 21 really soon. June 21 is a very special day, coz it means a girl named June could be 21 years old, but that’s being deranged. it signifies Summer Solstice. the day when (blah blah technical astronomical explanation) the length of the day is the longest in the northern hemisphere. which will make me sad coz i’ve been liking the insanely long daylight hours. even though i can never tell what time of the day it is and whether to get out of bed or not. (or into bed). it’ll be sad to have less than 16 hrs of daylight.

but equally importantly, it’s Fête de la Musique. whoopee. the last time in Lyon it was a great blast, with music all over the city, everywhere. and now it’s Paris, which is a thousand times crazier. the Mairie de Paris (… ok i hate translating this.. mayor) ’s website has got a listing which lets you search by arrondissement or genre of music. this is so going to be mad. problem: how to see as much as possible. *cry* seriously there’s too much stuff to do even in a lifetime. as least there wont be a grêve this time, none prévu (i hate to translate this too.. forecast) for that day. whoopee. * and guess what, special price ticket 2,50€ for travel in whole of île-de-france. they have events in all sorts of places, libraries, museums, town halls, outdoor stuff, at Trocadero, conservatoires… *faints*

and then i discover that omg they are having a beach volleyball competition Henkel Grand Chelem at Champ de Mars = the nice big field below Eiffel Tower. (Tour Eiffel makes more sense, the english name looks so foreign, like i’ve never seen this weirdo before) anyway, beach volleyball from 16 to 22 Juin. more stuff to see now. pity today i was too tired to run all the way there. but at least i had a nice time in Tuileries.

and i must say that i think the mayor is very happening. now they’ve got this artificial garden in front of Hôtel de Ville. wow. i’ve seen it morph from ice-skating rink, strike congregation point, olympic flame protest, tennis court to garden. vraiment magnifique.

and France is joining back Nato. and Saudi Arabia is increasing crude oil output, why, because they fear that the increasing oil prices is going to make alternative fuels more attractive and oil demand will drop in the long run. although i think in the very long run oil is doomed. hell we’ll find another fuel. maybe we can burn plutoids (pluto-like category of astronomical objects, poor ex-planet).

oh yes, today i went to the post office, and the woman at the counter kept insisting that Singapour est une ville  et pas un pays (singapore is a city not a country). merde. they resolved in the end that it’s an etat-pays (nation state). wow. i mean, if she can actually recognise that singapore is a city, how come she doesnt know what country it’s in. but anyway it ended in a smiley session with the counter staff. J’aime parler français.
