catacombs

I am whoppingly impressed. On an online form, I saw the following options under “Profession”

  1. Agriculteur
  2. Artisan, commerçant, chef d’entreprise de moins de 10 salairiés
  3. Cadré supérieur, chef d’entreprise de plus de 10 salariés
  4. Profession libérale
  5. Profession intermediare (cadre moyen, technicien…)
  6. Employé
  7. Ouvrier
  8. Etudiant
  9. Homme / Femme au foyer
  10. Journaliste
  11. Autres

That is so WOW. I like seeing agriculteur, i like seeing artisan, i like seeing profession libérale, i like seeing ouvrier, i like seeing homme au foyer. talk about being open minded, this is it.

furthermore, the delivery address page is as funky. It has blanks for: Prénom, Nom, Sociéte (si livraison sur le lieu de travail, Adresse, Digicode(to enter the building), Étage (options of: RDC, 1, 2, 3…), Code Postale, Ville, Pays, Téléphone. coolness. damn.

oh oops today’s highlight was supposed to be the Catacombs. that is one nice place.

the catacombs, are, i believe, an old stone quarry. it was then used as a storage place for millions of bones displaced from some cemeteries. and it is one helluvalot of bones. it was so worth the queuing for 1 hr, the deep descent and the long walk in the tunnels. it is simply so creepy. it’s like the scale of some war crime. and then after awhile you start wondering why it keeps continuing! so many bones. and they are arranged so creepily neatly. there are also some empty spots where perhaps someone has stolen the skull/bone. seriously. yeah it got really freaky in there. it is really unadvised for the young and the weak of heart. wow. this is my most unique visit ever. blink. please look at the rest of the photos.

and then i went to visit the Pantheon. Finally. I’ve walked past that building at least 5 times, been near it at least 15 times, and after 2 years i’ve finally entered. it’s good to know some history and recognise some of those people, else it wouldnt mean much to you. it’s nice to see Pierre et Marie Curie and Victor Hugo. It’s nice to know they honor their writers, their poets, their revolutionaries. and also some generals and stuff who don’t seem very well known. anyway the ultra famous ppl like napoleon have their own place. there’s voltaire and rousseau too. Emile Zola. I think, it’s really heartwarming to know that instead of glory, pride, success, wealth, fame, what was emphasized here was these people’s contribution to society, their part in the all-important revolution, their upholding of french ideals, of freedom, of liberty, of truth, their part in the social fabric and what they meant to the people. it is a big deal.
