yay. finally got my N78 phone. bit of a surprise, since two weeks ago I didn’t know that my phone plan had expired some months ago, probably while i was overseas. and at first glance all the current phones had looked ultra expensive or ultra boring. thankfully the N78 had some promotion during national day weekend, plus a $100 hub voucher, plus a cheapo tradein, and now i have the phone for $48. whee. if hypothetically i save $250, that’s like 10 months of subscription fee, out of a 2 year contract. not bad.
curse nokia for messing around with the phone and implementing weird thin buttons on the keypad. but it’s still decently useable to me.
i am having lots of fun playing with the Wi-Fi and GPS functions. incredible. lots of internet access. i so wish i had a touchscreen, but then i did not pay $200 or $300 more, so i guess that will have to wait for 2 more years. meanwhile i will type things slowly, and move the cursor with arrow buttons. still, Wifi is so fun, can check news, google, for Free. good thing there’s Wireless@SG. logging in is such a pain though.
GPS is as fun. altho it sux indoors. at least outdoors it gets a fix pretty fast. hm i need to try and look at the satellite display, should be fun. Geo-tagging photos is fun too.
i also like the ‘breathing’ display, and the alarms. and the Symbian OS. darn Evernote only supports Windows Mobile.
one of their greatest function is the ability to time a profile. so say i activate a ‘Silent’ profile, i can set it to expire at a certain time, like in 2 hrs when my lecture ends. it auto reverts to General profile. nice.
i think it supports almost every connection method possible. good for tech mad me.
i wish the Nokia Maps had a higher resolution though. if only it was as good as Google Maps. also abit slow. hell it’s only a little phone, and cheap.
and if only they had some games included. although the ability to install N-gage seems tempting.
oh yes and I moved into Ridge View Residences beside YIH. at rm D316. visit me if you want. darn i miss my paris studio. heh.
