I am not what they would call ‘Superman’ | jh

I am not what they would call ‘Superman’
Nor could I ever be the opportune hero
Yet I shall hold you gently by the hand
Till troubling night fades into tomorrow

I was not born to be crowned King of men
Nor have I a white horse to ride on
Yet I would before your troubles stand
And shield you from love’s sorrows

I might not be heralded by trumpet calls
Nor welcomed with hugs and kisses
Yet I am heartened by your gentle smile
And lovely dimple furrows

I might not be your best of friends
Nor your dearest lifelong partner
Yet we might share warm summer laughters
And freezing winter shadows

I might not be your happiest joy
Nor the most regretful sadness
But I might be what comes between
To fill up life’s lonely hollows

a gift to all the lovers out there, and those who wish to be.

it isnt the most fantastic of verses, and pardon the rhyming, but it means something to me.

happy valentine’s
