the physical version of what i previously posted. and some commentary:
[18feb]
what it means
first stanza. superman alludes to pop culture, common terms of heros, especially in today’s context, with all the superheros and movie heros. idealised heros, with strength and courage. but yet there are softer emotional sides to it. how reality is not tv.
second stanza. rank and fate. what if i was not born rich or famous or smart, i have still my heart and soul to hear you out and care for you. bravery exists in all soldiers, not just knights and officers.
third stanza. i come quietly, sometimes unnoticed, sometimes i leave unnoticed, but i am there, was there, perhaps you didn’t care, i cared.
fourth stanza. i do not know who you care about more, nor whether i am amongst them, i may not be as close as your partner, but before that we were already friends, no? it was a long time ago and i am still here.
fifth stanza. not as happy as your wedding or coronation, not as sad as your breakup, not as hated as your enemy, not as loved as your family, but i am here, without needing an occassion, nor reason, nor explanation.
