you know something, all those photos that i say are very nice? you should view them in Full-Screen! Even better if you have widescreen HD. haha. no, seriously if you only view it on a 1024×768 lcd, you can’t appreciate how insanely good these cameras and lenses are.
try these

anyway just to remember, the Nikon D5000 and below series do not have in-body focusing motor, so they are incompatible with older nikon lenses. whereas the D90 and above series have it. So you usually have to use the AF-S lenses, which means the current cheap 50mm f1.8 lens can’t auto-focus on the D5000. if you get what i mean. and the D90 does cost upwards of $1600, which is out of my budget.
BEFORE you factor in
- nicer lenses
- a bag. yes i know you get a free bag but carrying a LOWEPRO or NIKON or CANON bag around is really attracting thieves (not so much in singapore but imagine Italy and China) and sometimes not practical when you need to carry 100 other times like when you’re hiking. and it doesnt look so good in photos (which is what we’re after right)
- external flash (omg @ their prices, but i am so sorely tempted at one. $2-300?)
- tripod ($100 and up. why are tripod heads eXpensive and separately discussed from the legs. bag optional)
- remote release. (wired or wireless. well well)
- about this time or earlier you would need more batteries and more memory cards
- and also more lenses
- perhaps also a battery grip.
no i’m not joking, it’s a serious life and death issue, what are you going to do when you want to take that damn macro photo of that beetle. tripod+macro lens (or macro converter)+flash. oops.
lenses >>> body. and none of them are ever good enuF
oops i left out the dry cabinet/box
