I am starting to like Digital Photo Professional quite abit, the bundled canon photo-editing software. The one that can manipulate RAW files. Nice things I discovered include:
- ability to compare Before and After pictures
- saving of set of manipulated settings as a ‘recipe’ and reapplying it to other photos
- Batch Process function which allows for finalizing of edits at one go and exporting the photos and resizing can be all done together, even renaming using a new series number. very very useful when you start a new workflow where lots of photos are lightly touched up and many others rejected.
- Checkmarks 1, 2 and 3 allow you to check different things for different purposes, whatever you want to do
- Contact Sheet Prints – you know the all-in-one page index kinda thing
- gridlines
- a nice tool palette that has commonly used stuff like RAW white balance, Lens aberration correction, curve adjustments
- transfer to photoshop. it transfers a jpeg over as a tiff file! although it actually stumped me later coz i couldnt seem to save in jpeg.
- nice trimming tool
yup ok i’m starting to like it more than using photoshop.
and oddly nikon doesnt provide such software for free
