“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft agley.”

The only line that i remember from the book ‘Of Mice and Men’, by John Steinback. I actually didn’t really like the book, but I guess I liked the most important line enough.

Does it mean something to me? I’m not sure, but it’s a phrase that pops up once in awhile, perhaps embedded in my subconscious, perhaps it affects me in ways that I am not aware of.

“…will i be pretty, will i be rich, here’s what she said to me…]

    was it actually in the book? from what i recall (although i won’t bet anything on this), ‘mice and men’ didn’t actually come up in the book, the quoted line is actually from a poem from which the title of the book was derived…
