!!! Today is the half-year mark of my Pro Account. For a long time before that, I had a simple free Flickr account, partly because I was a poor student, because Picasa Web Albums served much of my needs, and because I was not in the photography craze.
So, in the past 7-8 months, i’ve come to realise that Flickr is my greatest source of photographic inspiration. I do get ideas and tips and techniques from magazines and other webpages, but they tend to be more, how to say, structured, whereas Flickr is very open, free, boundaryless, and users upload every sort of photos ranging from pro-quality, to hilarious, to uber lighting conditions, to festivals, events, to cool techniques, to snapshots, to ideas that are would not make it into published media. For example this set of wedding photos, by this person who is not a pro wedding photog. I mean, seriously fun photos that won’t be accepted into normal contexts, and I guess that’s something I’m trying to find.
