Fête de Fierté | Gay Pride

la gay pride. in a city as gay as paris, how bad can it be. it was about the celebration of gay-ness, anti-discrimination, anti-AIDS and stuff like that. jumped in at ST-Michel and caught the parade going throug the streets. what a noisy street party. the funny thing is, i’m so used to manifestations that [...]

taboo

25june.
went to Ile St Louis, finally. also finally got to exit from Pont Marie métro. little tiny island with old shops, and lots of icecream. there’s Berthillon and Amorino. both oh so expensive.
Summer sales have started. realised they had late-daylight shopping. the crowds everywhere make everyday look like saturday. the sales are very good though. [...]

Cadré supérieur, chef d’entreprise de plus de 10 salariés
Profession libérale
Profession intermediare (cadre moyen, technicien…)
Employé
Ouvrier
Etudiant
Homme / Femme au foyer
Journaliste
Autres

That is so WOW. I like seeing agriculteur, i like seeing artisan, i like seeing profession [...]

Fête de la Musique

it’s my favourite day in France. well I haven’t seen 14 juillet but Fête de la Musique is so cool. A huge celebration of music everywhere in the country. You get to see all types of music, all levels of professionalism, and it’s all fun. You get local bands, small groups, professional orchestras, singers, buskers, [...]

le 19 juin

Today is the 19th of June. Let’s just go by time. The day started off with me watching Friends until 9am (SG Time). Actually I was watching Jennifer Aniston. Anyway I can’t find anything compelling to do to make me want to go to sleep to prepare for the next day. Then I woke up [...]

why paris is romantic

my answer used to be “because it’s paris”, that it is a dream that feeds on itself, but now perhaps i can start to see how so.

it is a great city. high population density, high cultural intensity, and the focus of an entire nation republic. [they always refer to themselves as republic]
but it’s a quiet [...]

et aussi pour la semaine prochaine

[yesterday] 300.000 manifestants en France, selon les syndicats LINK
ohlala, that’s 10% of the population of singapore. 46% of teachers and 15-30% of public service. everybody gives different estimates anyway, the police estimate is always lower and the street one is always higher.
but the problem is that there’s another (major) strike on 22 May. LINK. but [...]

les grèves.

i was at trocadero, and i saw a statue of benjamin franklin, which reminded me of this statue of my ‘friend’ Dante Aligheri. this one was in barcelona. but yeah, Dante.

and then today i went to the library (faculty lib, bio) and found that it was closed. curses and curses. Translation of the sign (bottom): [...]

Fête de la Victoire 1945 (WWII Victory Day)
public holiday! like it bothers me much. i decided to go out to Chatêlet to walk abit, i found that the shops at les halles were open, but it was relatively deserted. hm, so where is the whole city on a public holiday. many shops on the streets [...]
